I think everyone kind of trusts that the used renouveau version is from
the same date as a dump is generated. It would be unfortunate to
automatically overwrite a dump from a newer version of renouveau with a
dump from an older version, just because the latter was sent later.

I know this is more of a dump handling problem than packaging problem.
Can you push a new package to users as an easy update?

Personally I think it would be nice to have packages versioned by the
last date of change to the whole renouveau CVS tree. Hardcoded version
number is not so nice for developers.

There exists a script which downloads renouveau from CVS, compiles,
runs, and makes a package of the results.

Just my 2c.

ps. I could commit the patch when I get the time.
