hi,

can you please tell me,
is it possible to build something like this with some of your
drivers(fbdev/DRI)?

myOS - Linux based OpenGL development system without X

Minimalistic GNU/Linux system, stripped down of everything, but core necessary
files to compile and run OpenGL/C code. It has simplified directory structure
and cleaned up internal cross referencing. Programs compiled in myOS will run
on any Linux with or without X.

i guess its possible,
but after 3 months of trying i could not really figure anything about mesa
source code tree, where/what/how... i came to the point where i managed to
compile mesa, mesa-solo and what not... or so i thought, but i had to give up
as i wasnt even sure if im compiling the right thing or how to figure out if i
compiled it right... it never worked for me (without X)

anyway,
one of my goals would be to produce really tiny and simple "window manager",
well, much like Beryl/Compiz (in appearance), which would be rather simple
thing to do if you can build it with OpenGL from the ground (i believe)

so, in case its possible to make myOS with dri drivers like its now with
scitech, can you tell me:

1.) in how many files/ how big that driver (just OpenGL) is at the end?
(scitech OpenGL driver is one file, 800kb and thats all you need, beside the
OpenGL app you want to run)

2.) how much is dependant on other libraries/files/drivers and what they are?

3.) do you have any interest in projects similar to mine? do you know of anyone
who might be interested?

4.) is there easier way to gather/compile source(fbdev/dri) beside that one
where you have to grab the source from all over the net?

i wish you good look with your project,
and looking forward to see the list of supported hardware/features grow

thanks,
zelko
