There's a disconnect between the code monkeys and the designers. Remote scripting's been around, but GMaps and Garrett's article whacked the mainstream designers over the head. AJAX can stand for whatever acronym you want. When designers say "AJAX", they mean rich interaction and a broken page request/response model broken. It also means broken accessibility, user expectations, noscript, and hearts. I haven't seen an AJAX book get this right yet. I'm hoping some beta book feedback saves the PragProg book in the works just now.
