scott, have you used the Miestro from Humanware? They adapted the tuch
screan to have an overlay that presses the buttens of the screan. As much as
I hate humanware, I do like the idea. Actually it was made by visuaid before
they became Humanware.
I too would like a computer I can todd in my pocket.
My phone comes close.

Personally I want a computer I can fold up like a piece of paper and
shove in my backpocket. Actually I want one I can take anywhere and
even hold over my head in a sudden rainstorm. :) In the end I don't
care what the interface is, just as long as I can be as productive as
I always have. Let me toss this out there. I often tried using a
braille input on the Braille Plus and even then my speed is not nearly
as fast as a regular keyboard. So, I wonder if anyone has really
studied the efficiency of a touch screen, keyboard you'd use mainly
your thumbs to operate, and a standard keyboard. That would be
interesting info to know.

Actually, I'd hope they would, and make it accessible. I'm sorry, but
I'm not a part of this seeming 'blind' trend of hating touch screens and
thinking / wishing they'll go away! lol! I want to see more, not less
innovation, in both form factor and graceful / chic access solutions to
use such.
Have a great day!…

Let's just hope Apple doesn't make an Iphone/Ipod touch like interface,
that is touch screen and no keyboard.

That's true, for the time being. I think Apple may have to change
their minds soon, if you look at netbook sales figures they are
selling like crazy. If that keeps up for a few more months Apple might
just reconsider--out of necessity, if nothing else. If this market
stays strong, as it certainly seems it's going to, you can bet Apple
will jump in and grab a piece of it.

Apple has made no decision to enter this market. Steve Jobs has said
that if they do, it will be worth Apple's time and effort and will be
a benefit to the consumer. Which means they might be neat, but the
number that have sold does not justify the investment of resources.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing
that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot
possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to
get at or repair.
