FYI it looks like the appimage
(kicad-testing-10.99.0.284.gd5f84b7a83-x86_64.AppImage) might truly be
10.99.

(I am using the real 10.99, and there was a schema update a few days ago.
My project's schematic and pcb files are "(version 20260326)".  And I can
successfully open them with
kicad-testing-10.99.0.284.gd5f84b7a83-x86_64.AppImage)
