The problem with this bug is that nobody ever has come up with a proof, which rendered it a "wild unproven claim", though it's not unlikely this problem exists.

The ticket has a description, you should read this first. Then look at the patches. Then look in Newlib and grep case insensitive for __lock_init for example. Is this so hard for you to do after so many years using Newlib?
