Hi all,

currently I'm running cyrus-imapd 3.8.4 with a rolling replication to backup my mails.
This rolling replication is configured to use csync.

The documentation [1] states that sync_server and csync is no longer needed since 3.0, as the transport will be done via imap.

So I went curious.

And that's where I'm stuck. I can only get it to work with sync_server over csync. Removing sync_server from cyrus.conf on the replication server and changing xxx_sync_port from csync to imap on the master server, thus forcing sync_client to use imap, only results in

> couldn't authenticate to backend server: no mechanism available

The logs of the replication server show that the login is successful. Capturing the traffic shows that the replication server neither sends a X-REPLICATION nor X-REPLICATION-ARCHIVE capability which is probably a requirement for sync_client.

What am I missing?

Kind regards,

Philippe
