I understand your point. I have answered to posts on forums only to find out I 
took "too much time". The OP had already left and was posting the same question 
somewhere else :)
But it does not mean that we need to change to adapt. OpenOffice is what it is. 
Not the most modern, not the most "material design" interface, not the one with 
most features but very likely the most stable and the most reliable Office 
suite.

In my opinion saying that it opens "most" files will not appease the infuriated 
young users when the next file won't open ;)
