Hi,
Well we have received this patch from our supplier from the cirrius
chip (cs4207). I have not tested it.
The reason why I did not test it is that I was able to play a sound
file on my platform. However since I new in the development of moblin
I do not understand completely how the audio is working.
Since today (with the help of Jing J Wang) I think I've found that the
driver is not complete. I have only 1 capture device and 1 playback
device. According to the spec of the cs4207 this should be more.
This is what I have in my /dev/snd
r...@localhost snd]# ls -alh /dev/snd/
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 160 Mar 24 20:00 .
drwxr-xr-x 15 root root 3.3K Mar 24 20:00 ..
crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 7 Mar 24 20:00 controlC0
crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 6 Mar 24 20:00 hwC0D0
crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 5 Mar 24 20:00 pcmC0D0c
crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 4 Mar 24 20:05 pcmC0D0p
crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 3 Mar 24 20:00 seq
crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 2 Mar 24 20:00 timer
[r...@localhost snd]#
A second thing is. I'm using right now the kernel that can be
downloaded from the repo of moblin. I do not use any patches. However
I want to apply the patch but I don't have an idea on doing that. I
cannot find any documentation that is explaining how to start the
patch and with what.
Can you guide me trough?

Maybe in addition to that I got a patch for the CS4207 device.
But I don't really know if it's required or not. (now I'm using the
menlow rpm kernel from moblin)
Have you submitted this patch to the Linux kernel mailing list? We
strive to use a pure upstream kernel (like today we are using the
recently released 2.6.29 kernel), with each patch requiring a strong
argument as to why it's not already in the upstream kernel (i.e. a
critical security fix that is already being reviewed on LKML but not
available in a release yet.)
I'm a bit confused by how you don't know if you need the patch? Have
you not compiled/tested the change?
