Judy,
It is true that the guides need a consistent review. Some of them are
put up and not verified when other parts of the project change. We'll
try to do better.

One note is that there is a script called ume-xephyr-start (I think)
which does all the initial startup for you so you don't have to type in
the long Xephyr command. It also kills gconfd.

Thanks Claudio!

That did the trick. It seems once again that these development guides
need some updating.

Cheers,
Judy

Subject: [Moblin Dev] Application Icon on Home Screen

Hi All,

I'm continuing to go through the development guides posted
on moblin.org. Now that I can use xephyr (thanks, Cathy!), I worked my
way through "Developing a Basic C/C++ Hildon Application." I got
everything working just fine (even though there are a few typos in the
text... Does anybody keep these guides updated??) except that I cannot
get the Icons to show on the target home screen. I'm wondering if this
is the result of using the "killall gconfd-2" command (which is what it
takes to get xephyr to show)? I tried downloading and making the code
files supplied just in case it was something I was doing wrong manually,
but they also don't show on the home screen. I also changed the
category "Mobile" to "Graphics" since that is a registered category and
"Mobile" isn't. I tried a few other things as well with no result.
Does anybody know why the icons won't show?

Thanks,

Judy
