Ok, i'll try the STAX-RI this week end and give you a feedback. If it seems to work I'll publish a snapshot to allow our users to test it.

I recommend using the StAX RI - while I haven't assessed the relative performance it is half the size and I know of at least one bug in woodstox in handling windows line endings. - Brett
