Among the reasons why Shindig may be on hold is because if there is further develomment, Shindig would become the RI of another W3C standard, Open Social, which was donated to W3C http://www.w3.org/blog/2014/12/opensocial-foundation-moves-standards-work-to-w3c-social-web-activity/ There are WG meetings and discussions, but it'll take at least as much time as the DDR standard once did there, maybe even more for a slightly more complex subject, but it seems it's worth being standard-compliant at Apache (well to most;-O) Werner
