Hi, 

The first thing that comes to mind is the limit on the path and environment
variables in Win98. If I remember correctly the path and an environment
variable cannot exceed 256 chars. In a java environment with the classpath
as environment variable you'll quickly exceed that with all kinds of
unpredicted results.
