This morning, in the moderation queue for this list, I found a message
that was different from others I'd seen before.  It appeared to have
originated as a newsgroup posting at google.  I'm still not 100% sure if
this was a moderated newsgroup posting, or if the poster merely sent it
both as a newsgroup posting AND as an email to the list.  But I'm
optimistic that this is the start of a new era of reduced spam for both
the list and the newsgroup.

The historic first message of its kind (if that's what it was) bore these
headers:

> Subject: Re: Issues with ActiveClient Smart Card Middleware with 
> Firefox/Thunderbird Windows 7 
> From: Ridley <  (a gmail address)  >

Congratulations, Ridley, on being the first.  You're now white listed.
No more moderation delays for you.
