clients, for the web servers, they need a solution they can use now with

Well, we've been living with it for a while already, I'm not sure how many potential subscribers turned around because of that.

I think the later was "fixed" in Firefox by creating the "remember"
flag and set it by default on. it created obviously another problem now.
You're right. Now it's as bad as Microsoft, except Microsoft at least
has a button to 'forget'.
Fortunately, I don't believe this is the final word on the matter.:)

I think an immediate relief would be to provide some meaningful information regarding the errors in such cases. I suppose that's the original idea of this thread. Perhaps it's also the easiest part to implement, not sure.
