Michael, I'm glad you figured out the solution to your challenge. I'm sorry that no one here was able to help you. The code that uses spnego is part of an extension (plugin) for Firefox, and AFAIK it doesn't use any of Firefox's own cryptography code. I think none of the regulars in this group know much about it. I think you'd have to ask one of the authors/contributors to that extension for answers about it.
