This is strange, because the pcertt.h header file in the NSS_3_6_1_RTM release defines the macro CERT_DB_FILE_VERSION as 7. In contrast, the current version of pcertt.h defines that macro as 8: http://lxr.mozilla.org/mozilla1.8/ident?i=CERT_DB_FILE_VERSION So I don't know why 3.6.1 created cert8.db in your test. Please verify that both the certutil executable program and all the NSS shared libraries/DLLs (in particular, libsoftokn3.so/softokn3.dll) must come from the same release (3.6.1).
