Is the goal to find the best results for the actual audience and conditions of 
usage of the web, with its naive observers of varying visual acuity, varying 
light conditions and equipment, or to find the best results for some rarified 
laboratory setup? If a format were to prove superior in the lab test but prove 
not significantly different in the messy real world test, that I think we could 
conclude it wasn't a worth implementing. And vice versa.
