The domain follows our standard scheme for cloud services and doesn’t have any
other semantic meaning. It’s easier to manage the DNS names under a common
subdomain for operational purposes.

Firefox Sync was the first to use the subdomain and today we have SimplePush
and location services in addition. We’ll likely get more services in the future.

For the time being we also have the documentation and public website at the
mentioned domain. That’s something that will likely change, to integrate better
with our existing docs and translation workflows. But it’s too early to burden
the mozilla.org web team with our little project.
