It could make sense, my understanding is that we started using it in the lack of better options, and has become a de-facto "standard", even if, as said, it's surely not the best tool we may have. A self-documenting name would solve most doubts.
By renaming the field though we "disallow" people from using it as an aspirational target field _while the bug is open_. On the other side, as Dolske suggested, the whiteboard can be used for that, so an immediate solution already exists.
