If you're building a Firefox version that old on a distribution that new, you're missing out on the work that's been done to keep Firefox working well on newer Linux distributions, so it's not surprising to see this sort of problem. I don't think you should expect this to work well. Finding all of the individual pieces of work that have been done to keep up with newer versions of software in Linux distributions would be a decent amount of work.
