If you have the default certificate attributes that come with Firefox it
won't work since it also checks the commonName certificate attribute. Look
in your about config for the values under
app.update.certs.

After it fails iirc 5 background checks when there is an update available
for the version being checked and iirc 10 background checks when there is
no update available it will ask the user to download a new build using the
url specified in the app.update.url.manual preference.
