Those kernel messages are likely unrelated. Nvidia should have no
control over any of the monitors. Your logs say that the Intel GPU is
primary and only the Intel GPU has monitors connected to it.

Please:

1. Disconnect all external monitors (your drminfo says there were two but you 
only mentioned one).
2. Delete ~/.config/monitors.xml again.
3. Log out and in again.
4. Check if the bug still occurs.

  This is an optimus laptop with nvidia GPU.
  When pressing any key to wake the system up from sleep, the screen turns on 
then off again.
  Next key press, makes it on as seen in the attached video.
