Those kernel messages are likely unrelated. Nvidia should have no control over any of the monitors. Your logs say that the Intel GPU is primary and only the Intel GPU has monitors connected to it.
Please: 1. Disconnect all external monitors (your drminfo says there were two but you only mentioned one). 2. Delete ~/.config/monitors.xml again. 3. Log out and in again. 4.
