It's possible you have some saved configs involving two monitors rather
than the three that are connected. If any of those old configs involved
disabling the laptop screen then they might be used briefly while the
third monitor wakes up.

Try:

(a) Without any external monitors connected; and

(b) After deleting ~/.config/monitors.xml and logging in again.

  This is an optimus laptop with nvidia GPU.
  When pressing any key to wake the system up from sleep, the screen turns on 
then off again.
  Next key press, makes it on as seen in the attached video.
