Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Run these commands:
    journalctl -b0 > journal.txt
    journalctl -b-1 > prevjournal.txt
and attach the resulting text files here.

2. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
    ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

3. If step 2 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to
process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself.

Title:
Mutter freezes on Wayland with dual monitors (Intel Iris Xe Graphics,
  HDMI output)

Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
On Ubuntu 24.04.2 using an Intel Core i7-1195G7 (11th Gen, Iris Xe
Graphics), windows frequently freeze and become unresponsive when a
second monitor is connected via HDMI under Wayland.

This issue does not occur under Xorg — everything works normally
there, even with the same dual-monitor setup.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Use default Ubuntu Wayland session
  2. Connect an external monitor via HDMI
  3. Use the system normally (even light tasks, e.g. opening Settings or Files)
  4. Windows or GNOME shell become unresponsive (sometimes completely freeze)

What I expect: Stable window behavior with multiple monitors on
  Wayland

What happens: Unresponsiveness and freezing with HDMI monitor
  connected

Workaround: Logging into the “Ubuntu on Xorg” session avoids all
  freezing issues.
