Empty band at the bottom

Bug description:
Whenever I show or hide the top panel by hovering over it with the mouse
Firefox shows a blank band at the bottom the same width as the top panel. This
problem is more noticeable on pages that take longer to be displayed, in fact
the longer they take, the longer the empty band remains visible.
