Screen sharing via RDP is mostly broken

Bug description:
I set up screen sharing on one computer, then via LAN I have connected
via multiple clients (android using official MS remote desktop client,
windows using official MS remote desktop client, and another ubuntu
22.04 machine using remmina 1.4.25)
On all clients the connection is a blank screen, however, mouse click
and scroll events are successfully forwarded to the server machine...
the gnome-remote-deskop service does log to systemd journal that a
connection has succeeded and I see the yellow indicator icon in the
top right
