greetings!

So.. what exactly is this "evdi" that you were mentioning?
I just returned the laptop from a few hours unattended (did not suspend, just
lock / walk away) and was greeted by flickering, this time only a part of the
screen but all the time.

the flicker that I usually see is short, then results in a black screen
for 2-10 seconds, then it's all good again.

This time, it was ongoing and the syslog was full of those:

mrt 21 21:32:12 moya kernel: evdi: [D] evdi_detect:94 (dev=0) poll connector
state: disconnected
mrt 21 21:32:12 moya kernel: evdi: [D] evdi_detect:94 (dev=0) poll connector

undock > dock and all was good again.

still can't correltate the event.. sometimes hours pass without a
flicker, then 10 per hour.

anything else I can do/test?

thanks for any hints

Title:
[DisplayLink] screen flicker on gnome with t450s with ultra dock

Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
picture on monitor connected to DisplayPort flickers occasionally. between 1
and 20 times per hour.
searched for similar bugs or problems, related to docking station. Does not
happen when using laptop standalone / connect screen manually.

DisplayLink Driver is installed/compiled from official website.

whenever the flickering happens, this appears in log:

"libinput error: client bug: timer event20 debounce short: scheduled
expiry is in the past (-10ms), your system is too slow"

  anything I can contribute? fix?
I tried to get daily builds of intel-driver but that broke wayland/gdm so I
rolled back.

only link I could find that seems relevant is
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1572667 - which
  expired.

  thanks
