Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.
You made this bug report in 2009 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 427265
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

Bug description:
Binary package hint: thunderbird
In addition to thunderbird's appalling handling of MIME digests, when
any message in the digest is PGP-signed, the whole email is formatted
incorrectly. Instead, the digest should be formatted like any other
digest, and the signed emails should be signed. I've attached a
screenshot of the bad formatting - you can see that the headers are
shown as jumbled text instead of in the normal easy-ish-to-read
format.
