** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 874924 WARNING: Failed to open CK session: Timeout was reached (ecryptfs subdir) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872939 Title: Multiple Login Issues Status in ecryptfs-utils: New Status in Light Display Manager: New Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After update to oneiric I had several issues all possibly seem related; - Login through lightdm had 25 second delay ( In lightdm.log "WARNING: Unable to get connection to ConsoleKit: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit: Timeout was reached") - Unity top right menu was missing (off screen) on login. - 100% one core cpu usage in lightdm when logged in. (Doesn't seem to match exactly bug #836616) - Unlock on user accounts was disabled - synaptic not launching from gui (pkexec only worked from terminal.) - logout didn't return to lightdm, (workaround was to kill 2nd lightdm process.) - (when switched ) gdm not allowing login (unconfirmed if this fixes it.) First workaround I used was installing a 3.20 gdm ppa; Now I have tracked it down further. Moving/renaming ~/.ecryptfs solved the problems. I don't use encrypted home so doing this is good enough for me. In past I had created an encrypted Private folder set to not auto-mount. I guess there will be others that actually use an encrypted Private directory and so reporting my findings.
