@dabas Empathy never had proxy support by default. So maybe you installed a plugin or something and the upgrade disabled it. If it is so, please tell me how did you get Empathy work with a proxy, so i could do the same.

Other software like Chromium works correctly. I've double checked the proxy settings in System Settings -> Network -> Network proxy and also in dconf -> system -> proxy, and also in gconf-editor -> system -> proxy, and the everything seems correct. I also have the same problem with Pidgin and I've filed bug #878032 about it.
