I have restored the old versions of baseboards/h8300.exp and baseboards/h8300-sim.exp from the Git history, applied the "missed" global changes since they were removed, and applied the minor changes Jan Dubiec suggested.
All of this has been pushed to Savannah on the topic-restore-h8 branch. Please test and confirm that this works before I merge it to master.
