Hi Justin, I packaged python-xattr in order to be usable with Apple's Calendar server. python pyxattr and python-xattr provide a module that is named xattr. The python-xattr upstream author told me about this:
>>I have another question though. It seems your xattr module has >>namespace >>conflict with http://pyxattr.sourceforge.net/. The packages don't have >>any relation to each other don't they? Unfortunately pyxattr is in >>Debian already while xattr so I have to pick a different name. Any >>suggestions? > >The namespace conflict is intentional. My module is a drop-in >replacement for that one but it's more liberally licensed (MIT instead >of GPL), has a convenience dict-like API, and is compatible with more >platforms (Mac OS X and Linux). It seems python-pyxattr doesn't have any reverse dependencies currently in Debian. What about dropping python-pyxattr in favour of python-xattr? I have python-xattr already packaged at: git clone http://honk.sigxcpu.org/git/python-xattr/.git I'd be happy to add you as either maintainer or co-maintainer, what do you think.
