Have you built a kernel (or at least run 'make config') in the top level of the kernel source directory from which you are building the oprofile modules? I think that the oprofile build script needs to find .config in that directory. If this is the case, it would be helpful if the build script reported its failure to find .config, and made a suggestion to run 'make config'. Susan
