Nono, it found my card just fine. But what isn't working is the auto
detect scripts. Rico on debian-laptop suggested I configure things by
hand, and that worked.
        
        ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 
        route add default gw 192.168.1.1

I'm not sure how to do anything useful with that information, but now I
have an internet connection so life is better.
