Ok, I got it from apt. Now what?
I've uncommented the following line from my /etc/inetd.conf
ftp stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/vsftpd
and discovered that there is no vsftpd in my /etc/init.d directory.
