This is most likely the reason of your missfortune. The net installer
is in its beta incarnation. Obviously is failing in your particular
case. I would suggest to get perhaps some iso from

http://people.debian.org/~blade/XFS-Install/download/

or choose another net installer stable (woody) from

http://www.debian.org/CD/netinst/

1. Install then a very bare minimal system, afterwards

2. su
   vi /etc/apt/sources.list

3. change all stable entries, write instead testing, or unstable.

4. aptitude update, or dselect update, or apt-get update

5. upgrade

6. enjoy

7. feel remorse for your bad thoughts about debian

8. cry and learn for a week

9. come back and help others
