Hi there,
Can absolutely respect your frustration here.
May I ask a couple of troubleshooting questions?
First, if you remember, can you share the make / model?
Do they have their own volume control?
Is it possible, since they are wired, for you to test them in another item
with a headphone jack? stereo system, walk-person, cd player that sort
of thing?
If so, can you listen for at least 2-5 minutes for the sound quality?
There are likely many solutions that do not involve your changing
operating systems.
in joy,
Kare

The sound is getting quieter. I'm not getting the same sound quality. I've
tried many things but couldn't fix it. Unplugging and replugging the
headphones solves the problem. However, I don't like constantly having to
unplug and plug them back in.

I'm using Debian. I can't use my headphones with the same efficiency when
the computer is turned off and on again. I experience audio loss.
Unplugging and plugging the headphones back in fixes the problem. I've
searched for numerous solutions, but I haven't been able to resolve it. I
need your help with this. I don't want to switch from Debian to another
operating system.
Note: I use old style wired headphones.
By "audio loss" do you mean "no sound" or "quieter sound"?
