Seconded. You don't even need xrdb. You can configure quite a lot with xterm. This file sits in my home directory and configures menus, colors, fonts, and even keystroke/click behavior without having to load it with xrdb (because ~ is one of the places libXt looks for resource files): https://github.com/Anthropohedron/dotfiles/blob/master/XTerm
