Do you have a firewall in any computer? mdns uses UDP port 5353 and that
would need to be allowed for it to work.

I've generally found mdns to be fairly unreliable, works sometimes and
sometimes doesn't. Still, better to have it even as a flaky backup DNS
than no DNS, if actual DNS has issues or is unreachable.
