I don't think so, because of the way RAID controllers work, they
basically hide the real hardware HDDs behind emulation layer and make
virtual drives.
Alex has shown that this is not the case by showing smartctl output.
I think his "new computer" is actually old hardware, with some weird
chipset from AMD or VIA, or an outdated BIOS version with a bug, or an
external disk controller with hardware limitations.
This is something he should check and confirm for us.
