Hi.. I read the other responses, but am still not sure if this fits
what's being asked. Have you found where you can backup your messages
manually if your question means you're worried about losing some of
your local mail activity?

I use Evolution because it helps my emails try to follow standards for
list communications. That means I do realize that we use it to access
emails online and then leave them there. We also have the ability to
have locally stored folders that don't show up within the web-based
provider's interface.

That said and if you haven't found it yet, we can backup all our (only
local?) activity by clicking the now classic "hamburger" button for
settings. The button's on the top right for me. After clicking it, you
hover over "File" then choose the backup option.

As I tried to say, I'm not sure if that's what you mean about accessing
an account after a reinstallation, meaning concerns that purging
Evolution will also purge all that private, priceless data created by
Evolution. The two important storage locations that I just reacquainted
with are:

~/.config/evolution.
/home/user/.local/share/evolution

If ~/Mail is present, mine does not seem to have anything current that
would indicate it interacting with Evolution. That's telling me that
another package created that now basically abandoned location years
ago.

Based on personal purging experience, those two Evolution config and
data storage locations stayed in place when I removed Evolution for
some forgotten reason. Their data was still safely in place when I
finally reinstalled Evolution a few months ago. PHEW!

Thank you, Developers and Maintainers! That would have been a
devastating loss had they been purged, too. :)

Just thinking out loud, I guess. :)

PS For those Users looking for places where hard drive is quietly eaten
up, that .local location has "several" gigabytes of space being used
for my own Evolution instance.

Cindy :)
