I have a similar issue with my car's bluetooth, but not with any other bluetooth device. In my case, the issue is with my car's bluetooth, not Linux. Can you provide more detail about your external sound card? Maybe someone else can help, but I do not have any experience with external sound cards or what linux drivers, if any, are being used. Have you install any particular firmware drivers for this hardware? Are you using Debian 12? What brand/model computer are you using? George.
