Had a thought while getting ready for evening chores. There IS a potential starting point for Mozilla bug folks to ponder: What program actions occur (backup saving, etc) and what files are touched when Firefox is safely restarted like yours, and what program actions occur (backup saving, etc) and what files are touched when Firefox hardcore crashes on its own the way it did for me?
