Thanks, Étienne. You were right. OK, for the record: firefox-esr does *not* depend on systemd. I was misled, because (sysv system here, freshly upgraded to Buster) sudo apt install firefox-esr wants to install systemd (and, of course, remove sysvinit-core). It turns out that sudo apt install sysvinit-core firefox-esr leaves sysvinit-core in place. I double-checked (with apt -s and capturing the output). Now I'm a bit confused about apt's Super Cow Powers :-/ Cheers -- tomás
