Another suggestion;  Screw a couple of cup hooks into the ceiling for up
and over.  Since little weight will be carried, plugs etc. probably won't
be necessary.  If the cable use is a 'one off' one, afterwards the hooks
can be removed and the holes filled with toothpaste.

Yes, you read that right - toothpaste.  It's mostly china clay, after
all.  Plus, it'll leave the corridor smelling minty fresh.   :-)
Okay, that's not true;  There'll be so little paste used, you won't be
able to smell it at all.
