I did: # sudo less XFree86.0.log ...and I got "XFree86.0.log: No such file or directory" I then typed: #dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 ...and I got "usr/bin/dpkg-reconfigure: xserver-xfree86 is not fully installed" I am familiar with Linux to the extent that I have installed and played with several Red Hat, SuSE, and Mandrake versions, but this is my second attempt at installing Debian (the first of which didn't get this far due to hardware failures). I say all of this to add weight to the following statement: "I have no idea what to do at this point: please help".
