I see some advantages for the user space on FreeBSD installs, but IMO Linux has got advantages over FreeBSD (the kernels). The advantages for user space are some old faithful apps, that aren't polluted by odd ideas from upstream yet, since they are outdated. And I like the "dump" command that does make a snapshot and enables to backup a running system. [Done] You're already involved in the community ;). I'm interested to read about Debian's FreeBSD too. I still prefer Linux, my FreeBSD install isn't maintained, but it's nice to have a choice.
