Thank you very much for pointing out these links. I had read part of
that forums thread before (or something similar), but I missed those
posts.
Alas, Cinnamon seems to depend on package libcogl5, which appears to be
uninstallable. It could be done with some care, but would probably be
more trouble than it's worth. Perhaps I will try Mint in a VM.
