FWIW hwinfo is mistaken regarding to the name of my RME card. For audio I'm using a RME HDSPe AIO, it has got two IOs + 8 IOs by an ADAT device. More than enough for surround sound, but OTOH hand it's not such a mobo thingy with surround sound. Now I suspect that the portaudio lib does cause the trouble. Perhaps you should file a bugreport cross-posted to portaudio, wstj and Debian. IMO ALSA isn't the cause, anyway, it won't harm to carbon copy the bug report to ALSA too. Btw. I'm running a self build spinymouse@debian:~$ uname -a Linux debian 2.6.39.1 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Jun 7 01:40:05 CEST 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux with threadirqs enabled.
